First Grade On the Farm Down On Grandpa’s Farm. A Traditional Song that helps us develop our singing voice and joy in music Here We Go Riding Our Ponies. A Folk Song that encourages appropriate movement through tempo variation and the feel of 6/8 meter. Winged Friends Wise Old Owl. A beautiful Echo Song that gives us the opportunity to practice solo and small group singing. “Ballet Of The Unhatched Chicks” from M. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition with movements to help us understand the form patterns of this piece. Furry Things Old Gray Cat. A Folk Song that is a lot of fun to act out with a chase game at the end! Grizzly Bear This Traditional Song is also very fun for the kids to act out, while practicing appropriate dynamics/volume for the story. Bugs! Bee Bee Bumble Bee is a favorite Choosing Rhyme that allows us to learn about rhythm while also being a fun game. Butterfly Flutter By is a lovely song with a beautiful melody found in an old classroom book. Some students from each class will show you how they can move like the music. Second Grade The Woods The Hollow Tree is a traditional story, sung in many ways depending on where you learn it! You may recognize it as “Froggy Went a Courtin’”. We have students featured from each classroom to lead the few verses we chose to share today. The Sea Aquarium from Carnival of the Animals by C. Saint-Saëns. We will show you a fun way to listen for form/patterns in this well known piece. Our Yard. These next 4 songs are all short songs of childhood. They are 8 measures each, but with plenty of room for development of beat, rhythm, singing voices, phrasing, and a lot of fun! Here comes a Bluebird The Frog Song Bow Wow Wow Squirrel Our Pets Hamsters Can't Play The Piano - by T. Jennings. This song was inspired by the dwarf hamsters of youtube showing off their eating skills… to the delight of many. Our Goodbye! Bye Bye Butterfly is a playful song filled with all the goodbye rhymes a kid could think of. A true folk song, we have no idea where it started.
